Hi again , in the past few classes I have been focusing on the sport , history and technology side of this project so here are some of the things that i have learned . The first modern Olympics were held in 1896 in Greece. Originally the summer Olympics only existed and ice hockey and figure skating were played in the summer games. The fist official winter Olympic games were held in 1929. All of the sports in the winter Olympics scenic 1998 ( when snowboarding was made an Olympic sport) are Alpine skiing, Cross country skiing, Ice hockey, Nordic combined, Skeleton, Speed skating, Biathlon, Bobsledding, Curling, Figure Skating, short track speed skating, Snow board giant slalom, Half-pipe (snowboarding), Ski jumping, Lug, Moguls, Ski racing, and ice dance. Then on the more playing of the sports i found that, in our time performance enhancing drugs are much more relevant, and more testing is being done to prevent the use of them. The drugs that most athletes have access to are used either to build muscles enhance endurance or even lessen the amount of pain felt by the athlete. I also found close to what a training Olympians day would look like. They would be up around 6:30 for breakfast, yoga and the morning workout, at 9:30 they would practice there event, 12:00 nap time 2:00 lunch then core exercises 6:00 dinner then relaxing or light stretching. So basically our athletes work very hard to get in to the winter Olympics. Finally I researched what it takes to host the winter games in present day. To host Vancouver 2010, over 25000 volunteers were relied on to put together the opening ceremonies, set up evens, clean the stand, and lots more. And the venue alone cost a minimum of 1 billion $. In the next few days i will be researching the medical side of things, so health care of the athletes , what happens in emergencies, and the Paralympics. Ill keep you updated with what i find.

  1. Wow you wrote alot. 1 billion dollars!!! That's crazy. Wow again, they have to work really hard each day to train for this. That is really intense, like, I would have been dead in 2 hours.
